One team. One month. Delivering hope to their community.

Read how one team – the NOKY Team – in Independence, Kentucky, celebrated Global Volunteer Month by committing to acts of service every week in April.

Get ready to be inspired by this team, who rallied to “Drive forward. Give back.” throughout the month:

  • Week 1 – FedEx volunteers served 182 meals and put countless smiles on the faces of families and children at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati in Ohio.
  • Week 2 – The team volunteered at the food pantry of the St. Vincent De Paul of Northern Kentucky. They assisted shoppers and stocked the shelves with donations provided by the NOKY HUB and other local businesses in Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.
  • Week 3 – Team NOKY served dinner to all 67 residents at the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky and cleaned the food services area after the dinner. During the months of March and early April, the team held a collection for athletic items and delivered 84 pieces of gear they had gathered to Piner Elementary School in Morning View, Kentucky, on week three. The children, who had just returned from Spring Break, wrote heartfelt thank you cards to the team, which were displayed at the HUB entry throughout the month.
  • Week 4 – The team wrapped up the month by volunteering another two days at the St. Vincent De Paul in the food pantry. During the second visit of the week, volunteers helped open a new food pantry. They cleaned, stocked shelves, and built new shelving to accommodate more donated food and personal hygiene items.

Working together, 30 FedEx volunteers contributed 80 hours of service at six volunteer events throughout April. Talk about making an impact!

“Getting to apply our teamwork and develop a stronger employee workforce, while providing our servant leadership capabilities to the community through these opportunities is truly an honor to be a part of. Seeing the changes in improved employee relationships and dynamics that are positively influencing our HUB operation and ultimately delivering excellent service to our customers is one of many reasons the NOKY HUB will continue to help reach the 100,000 volunteer hours goal,” says Lindsay Blust, Operations Engagement Supervisor, at the Northern Kentucky Hub.

What a great example of working as one to be a driver of positive change in the community! A big thank you to the NOKY Team, and thank you to all team members who give back to their communities every day.
