2025 Q1 FedEx disaster response updates

FedEx supports multiple nonprofits, including the American Red Cross, Direct Relief, Heart to Heart International, The Salvation Army, Team Rubicon, and World Central Kitchen, that work to help communities recover from natural disasters, like Hurricane Ian. By providing charitable donations and in-kind shipping, FedEx continuously helps these organizations deliver critical aid, like medical supplies and meals, to those who need it most.

Through our company’s Delivering for Good program, we work with global disaster relief nonprofit organizations year-round to respond when catastrophes impact communities around the world.

Recently, FedEx and nonprofit organizations it supports have been on the front lines, delivering essentials to help those in need.

Los Angeles – wildfires

One of the many disaster relief organizations FedEx supports is The Salvation Army. For the Los Angeles fire disaster, they are providing food to survivors staying in Red Cross shelters. Their service model is unique in that they are already entrenched in local communities across the country, providing year-round social services. When disaster strikes, they don't have to "go there." They are already there and ready to serve. Any relief funds they receive go straight to the provision of aid and services since they already have their infrastructure in place.

FedEx is providing additional support to these local nonprofits: Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, California Community Foundation, and Pasadena Humane Society.

The following are some responses by disaster relief organizations FedEx supports:

  • The American Red Cross Disaster Technology Communications team shipped 20 cases of technology equipment (satellite phones, etc.) to their Disaster Relief Operations headquarters in Los Angeles.
  • Heart to Heart International sent 1,350 hygiene kits to Rise Against Hunger.
  • Feed the Children is moving a shipment of 25 shelf-stable food pallets – the equivalent of 20,000 meals – to a FedEx warehouse in Arizona for final distribution to the Dream Center in Los Angeles.
  • World Central Kitchen sent 10 shipments of supplies such as tents and solar lights to help with response efforts.
  • Chewy.com/Animal Wellness Foundation are shipping 237 shipments of essential supplies for animal shelters and rescues in urgent need.
  • Direct Relief deployed 66 emergency medical backpacks to the LA area that can serve up to 33K people. FedEx provides funding to Direct Relief annually to assist with their backpack initiative.
  • Rise Against Hunger has distributed nearly $2.5M worth of essential products, including bottled water, over-the-counter medications, and hygiene supplies shipped using their FedEx grant
