FedEx Cares teams up with Gleaners, Feeding America, and the Indianapolis Colts

Giving back to local communities is at the heart of FedEx Cares, and what better way to give back this holiday season than supporting local nonprofits such as food banks, food pantries, and meal programs.

This holiday season, FedEx volunteers joined with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Feeding America, and the Indianapolis Colts for a morning of service.  Together, they sorted, inspected, and repacked 6,800 pounds of food – helping to provide at least 5,700 meals* for families in central and southeastern Indiana.

Adding excitement to the day, Colts players Josh Downs and Tyler Warren rolled up their sleeves to help. “We’re proud to team up with Colts players and show how our commitment goes beyond the field to deliver real impact for local communities,” said Laura Fortenberry, Manager, FedEx Cares.

This effort is part of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Awards program and this year marks the first time the program will support Feeding America’s nationwide network of local food banks and pantries, including Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.  Each week, six players are nominated for the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week, and fans vote to select two winners. FedEx then donates $4,000 per week in winners’ names to local food banks - providing 40,000 meals weekly across the country.
