FedEx team members volunteer with Team Rubicon in Houston
FedEx & Team Rubicon still rebuilding in Houston after Hurricane Harvey
On October 18 & 19, FedEx collaborated with Team Rubicon in Houston to volunteer in the rebuilding of homes impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Shortly after the storm passed in 2017, FedEx joined forces with Team Rubicon to initially muck out houses destroyed by the hurricane. This past weekend, efforts continued with Houston Rebuild as a part of Team Rubicon’s first long-term recovery program for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. The focus was on low to moderate-income families to make the greatest impact possible. Over 40 FedEx team member across operating companies were joined by Jeff Smith, SVP of Human Resources, FedEx Ground to work across multiple houses over a two day period. Team Rubicon’s goal will be to complete 100 houses during the Houston Rebuild by February 2020.
Team members learned new skills and completed various tasks on the houses from subflooring to flooring, hanging siding and painting, installing cabinets or whatever requested by the housing lead. Team Rubicon staff and volunteers had nothing but great things to say about FedEx employees work ethic and passion while on the job site.
Many FedEx team members have already recommitted to volunteering independently during upcoming weekends. And FedEx plans to sponsor other Houston Rebuild days with Team Rubicon in December and February.
