Pave the way with Purple
FedEx Freight along with FedEx Express in TER have partnered with the Terre Haute Indiana chapter of CODA (Council on Domestic Abuse) for the past 3 years. Both Centers are passionate about assisting this organization for multiple reasons; the first and most important is that several of our employees personally know woman who have benefited from the organizations services. The second is the thought of partnering with them to provide safety and security for the women and children in our area with nowhere else to turn. Lastly the sincere appreciation CODA has shown, as they are an often overlooked organization with a lesser known brand and a much more anonymous nature, for obvious reasons.
This year, we at FedEx Freight held a competition among our employees. We divided into teams competing to be the team with the most weight donated. This proved to be one of our most successful ventures to date. Although it was a close battle, as teams struggled to stay atop the competition, we found that in the end we all won. FedEx Freight was able to collect 1,197 pounds of items delivered in Purple Tote Bags, with FedEx Express adding an additional 150 pounds. Our total contribution came to 1,347 pounds in the name of CODA!
The tie that binds in all of this philanthropy is our affinity for the color Purple! We at FedEx operate under the banner of "The Purple Promise". This simple but effective mindset leads us to strive to make EVERY FedEx Experience Outstanding. CODA has also rallied around this magnificent color as Purple is the color for National Domestic Violence Awareness. Purple is a symbol of security for the women they help. Both of our organization strive to make the color purple mean something special to everyone who sees it. We each work towards going the extra mile to make sure our customers experience the best service possible. When our organizations combine, it is most definitely something special to be a part of.
