FedEx Freight PHX Food Drive for St. Marys Food Bank
The FedEx Freight PHX Service Center held a food drive to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance of Phoenix, Az. St. Mary’s Food Bank was founded in 1967 and works with many agencies throughout the country to distribute donated food. The Phoenix location supplies emergency food boxes to families all over Arizona at fixed locations and via their Mobile Food Pantry program. Through the Kids Café program, they provide an estimated 3,000 meals to children in after school and summer programs.
The issue of hunger was met head on by the PHX team. The PHX team filled 150 Purple Tote Bags equaling 746 lbs. of food. The team rallied around each other by actively communicating their efforts via photos and encouraging each other. The participation began to spread like wildfire. There were days that we had members from all shifts stuffing Purple Tote Bags.
The day of delivery arrived and we were able to contribute 2 pallets of food. Knowing that all the donations would benefit families through the holiday season, and beyond, made the PHX team’s partnership with St. Mary’s Food Bank that much more important. Not only did we see our community outreach grow, but our own sense of community was greatly impacted here at the Service Center.
