Buffalo Station: Food Pantry of WNY

Friday, April 13, 2018

The Buffalo Station helped the Food Bank of WNY bag up 600 bags of food filled with food items for the Food Bank's backpack program. The backpack program is aimed at eliminating childhood hunger via providing backpacks to children in need on a Friday before the child goes home so that the child has a ready source of food available through the weekend. The Western New York community does a fantastic job providing meals to children in need during the school week- often providing breakfast, lunch and dinner for many children, however there is still a gap to fill during the weekend.

Ohio Valley District: The Welcome House

Friday, April 13, 2018

FedEx Ground volunteers from the Ohio Valley District straightened shelves at the Welcome House Shelter for MLK50. The Welcome House works to end homelessness, by offering a continuum of services to women and children, to take them from housing uncertainty to housing stability. They offer three main service areas, which include: housing, income and benefits, and service coordination. Since opening in 1982, they have expanded their services to not only encompass an emergency shelter, but to take a holistic approach in ending homelessness.

Mid-South District: Ronald McDonald House

Friday, April 13, 2018

Ten FedEx Ground volunteers cooked a meal for the families of children staying at the local hospitals. Most of the families are far from home and there is nothing better than a home cooked meal to make a person feel a little better. This was also Super Bowl Sunday and Super Bowl treats were made for the families to enjoy.
