FedEx Ground operations manager in North Chicago shows the power of one in Guatemala

Nov 14, 2016

While others may dream of a thrilling or luxurious vacation, FedEx Ground operations manager Becky Brown fulfilled her dream by traveling to Guatemala with a team of people representing the organization Hope Renewed International. This nonprofit helps serve and empower citizens in Guatemala, where more than 14 million people live on less than $2 a day.

“I have been volunteering with multiple organizations since college,” says Becky. “I love seeking new opportunities to volunteer and seeing how the community benefits from the work we can accomplish.”

Talent Acquisitions teamed up with Learning and Development to support the charity organization, My Possibilities. My Possibilities is the first full day, full year continuing program in Collin County aimed to give adults with cognitive disabilities the chance at a higher education that helps them discover their purpose. When My Possibilities started, they were a high-quality, but relatively small, program serving 25 "HIPsters" (Hugely Important People) each day. They became a state leader in continuing education for adults with disabilities, and now serve nearly 400 individuals each week.

Their mission is to help alleviate the hunger issues in the local community by providing 50,000 grocery baskets worth of food to the thousands of people they help.

One of our Operations Team Members gave our team the idea to help Giving Children Hope this year for FedEx Cares, as his team had done volunteer work with them at their warehouse in Buena Park in the past.

Emerald Coast District

Nov 7, 2016

As part of the FedEx Cares United Way Campaign, our team from the Emerald Coast District got involved with the local community by giving our assistance to the local Mobile Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House helps to provide homes for families that have a child either seriously ill or injured in a hospital located outside of their own home. This will actually mark our third year donating to the Ronald McDonald House Charity
