FedEx Freight Memphis Headquarters Operation Food Drive for Mid-South Food Bank

Focusing on food insecurity in the Mid-South, volunteers at the FedEx Freight Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee decided to help the Mid-South Food Bank as part of the FedEx Cares United Way Campaign. The Mid-South Food Bank is an organization focused on eliminating hunger in the Mid-South region by providing food to families, and individuals who do not have easy access to food. In the last year, the food bank has committed to their mission by serving over 13 million pounds of food to 220,000 people.

On December 9th, a great looking crew of twenty volunteers, dressed in purple T-shirts swarmed the FedEx Family House in Memphis to deliver and sort 787 Purple Tote Bags! We knew we had to do better than last year when we delivered over 550 Purple Tote Bags. These volunteers represented 230 employees of the Global Program Management & Engineering Team. For several hours, we unloaded and sorted food items, juice drinks, water, paper towels, toys, cleaning supplies, along with health and beauty products. Enough supplies to last the facility approximately four months.

“Be a Santa to a Senior”

Two Sr. Office Administrators from FedEx Ground wanted to do something for the elderly in their community. They accomplish this goal, they felt that helping the “Be a Santa to a Senior” program was the perfect fit. This program is headed of the Good Samaritan Society, which is an organization that is dedicated to providing shelter and aid to the elderly.

FedEx Cares-BBQ/United Way Event (Loaves & Fishes) 2016

On Oct. 18, 2016 at the FedEx Cares BBQ/United Way Event, a total of 200.00 & 15 Purple Tote Bags were filled with groceries & donated to the non-profit Loaves and Fishes. Loaves & Fishes is a private charity; it neither solicits nor accepts government money, but relies solely on private donations to support its work of feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless. Without passing judgment, and in a spirit of love and hospitality, Loaves & Fishes feeds the hungry and shelters the homeless.

FedEx Ground in Portland Maine has worked with Contractors, Package Handlers and Office staff to rise as many cans of food for the Saco Food Pantry, located within our own town of Saco, Maine. The charity organization has been around since 1982, and they are focused on providing both short-term and long-term assistance for people in need in Saco by providing them food they might not be able to access on their own. The staff of volunteers that help run the facility provide food for over 8,000 people a year!
