Teaming Up in South Park

On a blustery spring day, team members in the Seattle market gathered for a FedEx Cares project in support of the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition/Technical Advisory Group. They performed general trail maintenance such as clipping blackberry bushes, pulling invasive weeds and removing litter from the 8th Avenue Trail in the South Park neighborhood. This urban trail is a vital connector providing elementary school students access to their local library.

FedEx volunteers build garden, outdoor learning area at Memphis school

More than 100 volunteers spent time building a community garden and outdoor learning area at Kingsbury elementary and high school in Memphis on Monday, April 10th.

Volunteers from FedEx, Kingsbury's garden club and Wolf River Conservancy got to complete the projects at the two schools. They built limestone parkways, bird and bat houses, a compost bin, and much more.

The project is part of a grant program sponsored by FedEx and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation designed to protect and restore plants, fish, wildlife, and habitats across the country.

Several FedEx volunteers helped celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with Read Across America day at Jackson Elementary School in Memphis, Tennessee. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2 – Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904. He died Sept. 24, 1991, at age 87.
