Ronald McDonald House Meals from the Heart

Ronald McDonald House Meals from the Heart

Dec 1, 2016

Managers of the CH District, as well as the CH District MDDO and RVP of the MIWE Region participated in the Ronald McDonald House Meals from the Heart program. The organization houses families that have sick children staying at the nearby children's hospitals, providing a 'home away from home.' The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is to care for families of children with complex medical needs by providing comfort, compassion and a sense of community. By donating our time and providing a home cooked meal, we are helping to feed the families so they can stay strong and healthy to care for and visit their sick children.

As the saying goes, "the kitchen is the heart of every home." Our team worked as a group planning a menu, purchasing ingredients and preparing the meal in their fully equipped kitchen. This allows for the families to find nourishment and comfort in a shared meal. As well as planning and preparing a meal, we also purchased items off of the Ronald McDonald House wish list, filling total of 58 Purple Tote Bags.

The staff and families at The Ronald McDonald House were overwhelmed with FedEx's generosity in donating so many items from their wish list as well as our time preparing a home cooked meal. The house director gave us a tour of the facility, which allowed our team to be able to witness the positive impact the house, the charity, and volunteerism had on the families. We were able to meet some of the families and saw the appreciation and gratitude for a home cooked meal during their stressful time. It meant the world to us to be able to relieve any amount of stress on these families during a trying time.
