Revenue Services - DHS Foster Child Christmas
Each year, more and more children are placed in foster care due to uncontrollable circumstances not their own.
For the last 15 years, a single agent in Revenue Services – HRO has collaborated with our local DHS office to have foster children sponsored for Christmas gifts. This agent helps to coordinate the distribution of the wish lists for each child to employees within FedEx who volunteer to purchase gifts for these foster children, collection of those gifts, wrapping of those gifts, and distribution of those gifts to our local DHS office so that they can be delivered to the foster homes in time for Christmas morning.
This tradition was started by our own Sue Crabb who has since passed and handed that torch over to our own Beth Nelson. Sue definitely gave her all to these children and taught us all to remember the true meaning of Christmas, which is the love, the caring, and the compassion giving to others that are not as fortunate in their lives. Beth continues to flame that fire of compassion each year!
In the past, we have sponsored as many as 75 children a season for Boone and Newton Counties. Whether it be by sponsoring a child, shopping for the children, donating for the gift bags, donating wrapping paper, or wrapping presents during breaks and lunch the FedEx employees in Harrison Arkansas give their all to make Christmas morning special for these foster kids.
This year our local FedEx Freight contractor Fred Garry assisted in the delivery of these gifts to our local DHS office by providing a truck and driver. Assistant Manager Curtis Lane lined us up with driver Charles Edwards to assist in loading, delivering, and unloading of the gifts.
It takes a village to raise up a child and it takes the love and generosity of our community and co-workers to support that village.
Together we are all helping to make a difference in the lives of many!!!
