We are so fortunate for the things we have in our life, and Thanksgiving is an opportunity to reflect on who to give thanks to. However, there are children in our community that go home from school on Friday and have nothing to eat until they return to school Monday morning. The Central Alabama District wanted to give these kids a happy thanksgiving, and decided to help them by helping Feed the Valley Food Bank.
Feed the Valley Food Bank is one of the largest food banks in Georgia that also serves Russell County in Alabama. The organization helps people in both states by collaborating with hundreds of local groups to ensure food is distributed to families in need. Our team decided to help the charity by supporting their "Backpacks for Kids" program. The program makes use of the donated food by stuff it inside the kids' backpacks so they can have food for the weekend. Our team donated 15 Purple Tote Bags filled with healthy food that the children can eat and don't require can openers or microwaves. Great job Central Alabama District!
