GNRO Memphis – visits FedEx Family House and Shelby Farms Park
The Global Network Revenue Optimization (GNRO) department picked two separate activities to display their commitment to the United Way cause. One group went to deliver Purple Tote Bags and bake cookies for families at FedEx Family House while the other group volunteered at Shelby Farms Park.
FedEx Family House is a home away from home for out-of-town families with children receiving treatment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. It opened in December 2010 with a mission to provide free, comfortable accommodations to out of town families of patients at Le Bonheur. We took our humble donation of 10 Purple Tote Bags filled with various wish-list items. We also baked several dozen cookies for the families. Our team toured the facility and met with the Volunteer Director who was extremely grateful for the donations made by FedEx employees.
Shelby Farms Park is one of the twenty largest urban parks in the United States and it welcomes volunteers to take care of its 4,500 acres. One of our groups volunteered half a day in the park and performed tree trimming and clean-ups. They also toured the renovated facilities at the park. They had a good time, bonding and team building while contributing to a great cause.
