FedEx Cross Border chose Paws Rescue Group for our 1st annual Purple Tote campaign!

Oct 13, 2017

Many of the FedEx Cross Border employees have adopted their pets from a rescue or shelter, so they are well aware that saving lives and giving second chances comes with many expenses. Such expenses are spay or neuter, heart worm treatment, heart worm prevention, flea and tick prevention, surgeries, vaccinations, micro-chipping, vet appointments, food, bedding, etc.

Paws Rescue Group of Seminole, Florida saves dogs that would have otherwise be put down without their intervention. Typically, these are the larger dogs, at the top of euthanasia list, who are often overlooked at high kill shelters. Some have injuries or conditions that the shelters are unable to care for, such as broken bones, heart worm, dislocations, skin conditions, cherry eye, ear infections, etc. Potential adopters, more often than not, are smitten by the cute little dogs or puppies, leaving the larger dogs with slimmer chances for adoption. Some of the dogs Paws Rescue Group saved, were abused and neglected by previous owners. A few of the dogs were actually thrown out of cars!

Barbara Hastings, the founder of Paws Rescue Group visited the FedEx Cross Border facility with 3 of the rescue dogs that are waiting for their forever homes. She spoke to our entire staff, about what Paws Rescue Group does and was very excited and appreciative for the Purple Tote donations. The employees enjoyed spending time with the dogs and learned a lot about what rescues do, their needs and challenges.

FedEx Cross Border was able to collect, food, treats, chew toys, flea and tick prevention, cleaning supplies. Even a doggie life vest was donated to be used for rehabilitation in the pool, for dogs recovering from surgeries!
