Seattle Market FedEx Team Packs Hope for Heart to Heart International
You never know when you might need some extra help. That’s why several FedEx team members across Puget Sound gathered as part of a fall FedEx Cares event to pack hygiene kits for disaster victims. In light of the recent hurricanes, earthquakes and wildfires, team members were quick to offer their help. The kits were part of an organized distribution by Heart to Heart International, a non-profit whose mission is to strengthen communities through improving health access, providing humanitarian development and administering crisis relief worldwide.
Over 70 volunteers participated in the event from several FedEx operating companies in the Seattle area. By forming two giant multi-table assembly lines, the volunteers loaded each kit with towels and a variety of toiletries. From the bag opener at the front of the line to the bag sealer and box packers at the end of the line, each volunteer worked hard to make sure the line kept moving and that every kit received the proper items.
The event was a huge success and team members were pleased to learn their 900 assembled kits would likely go to the Puerto Rico hurricane relief efforts. FedEx Trade Networks Customer Service Representative, Shaelee McCormick, sums up the feelings of many of those who turned out today, “I love helping others in need.”
