Angel Tree Project
While many companies hold toy drives to donate for various Christmas events, FedEx employees in Irving, TX hold their own toy drive called The Angel Tree Project each year to benefit kindergarten students. This year, a group of students at Good Elementary School received toys and gifts from their FedEx “angels.”
For over nine years FedEx Ground, Freight, Office, and Services employees in the Irving/Dallas, TX area spread Christmas joy to economically disadvantaged children at our local schools.
Good Elementary School, located at 1200 E. Union Bower, Irving, TX, was selected as our 2016 Angel Tree school. Three kindergarten classes received Christmas toys/items, visit from Ronald McDonald, special visit from Santa and Irene Solis (Business Inside Sales) & Family provided musical entertainment.
Preparation for the event started in September. Everyone was included! Parents filled out the Angel Tree cards, employees selected their students and filled the stockings with care!
On December 16 FedEx employees arrived at the school wearing our purple FedEx Cares T-shirts and Santa hats. We had a blast playing Santa for the day. It was a lot of fun and excitement for all - just to see the children faces when they received their gifts. The FedEx employees joined in a conga line singing Christmas tunes. It was such a special treat to provide musical guests, their personal Santa and Ronald.
Parents were invited to whisk away the gifts, toys and special treats.
And…we did not forget the teachers, counselor and principal. We brought along a special gift from Santa just for them in a FedEx Cares purple tote.
This was the first year Good Elementary School had a volunteer project with FedEx.
