Fill a Stocking - FedEx Ground stations of the Hawaiian Islands
The FedEx Ground stations of the Hawaiian Islands have been gathering items for Project Hawaii’s “Fill a Stocking” program that provides hygiene products, gift cards for food, and toys to be given to homeless children of Hawaii Island to keep them clean, fed, and mentally stimulated during the holidays. We gathered the items over the past several weeks and presented them to Project Hawaii on Monday of this week. When the folks at Project Hawaii saw the Purple Tote Bags, they wanted to know if we had more for the 300+ children to use when going around the party to gather the items collected. We were able to do just that by sending over 300 Purple Tote Bags to Hilo, Hawaii in time for the party on Thursday!
The party brought in just over 300 smiling, little faces! The families signed in at the door and were given a Purple Tote Bag for each child and the room quickly turned into a sea of purple! The children each got to take a picture with Santa and were given an age-appropriate gift to unwrap. The children were entertained over the next couple of hours by arts and crafts, a princess dress up photo op, and games that were awarded with assorted goodies! The families were then all fed a hearty Christmas dinner provided by Aunty Sally's Luau Hale. Amongst the folks serving food happened to be a FedEx Express driver still in uniform!
As I walked around the party, several people approached me to give thanks to FedEx and our contribution to this wonderful cause. I heard stories of how this program has touched the lives of the families participating, and this was a heartwarming experience to say the least! Not only were we able to help out this cause in a very big way, but we were able to promote the brand in the process!
