From the Classroom to the Phone: New Digital Training Program for Entrepreneurs

Nov 15, 2017

Posted by Ana Ruth Medina, Project Manager at Accion

Shoemakers, tailors, bakers—these small business owners are usually experts at their craft, but that doesn’t mean they automatically know everything about running a business. Dialogue on Business (DOB) is a classroom-based business education program designed to help low-income entrepreneurs gain the skills they need to succeed in their enterprises and grow their businesses.

In 2016, Accion and FedEx launched a two-year initiative to create a digital version of this award-winning program to use in Colombia. By bringing the DOB program online, we can make the program more cost effective to deliver, more flexible, and more easily accessible for a broader audience.

FedEx Donates and Delivers 10 Tons of Food to Houston in the Wake of Hurricane Harvey

Sep 2, 2017

More than 20,000 meals-ready-to-eat (MREs) made their way to survivors of Hurricane Harvey on Friday.

FedEx team members at the company’s World Hub in Memphis, Tenn. loaded 10 tons of food onto a FedEx jet bound for Houston on Friday. The individually packaged meals included entrees such as pasta and chicken, a snack and a dessert. The delivery was made to the American Red Cross in Houston. The meals, which would be enough to feed 1,000 people three meals a day for a week, will be distributed to those affected by the devastating storm.

FedEx keeps the MREs in a temperature controlled environment at the FedEx Air Operations Complex (AOC) in Memphis as part of a disaster preparation plan in the event an earthquake or other disaster were to strike the area near the World Hub.

The MREs were donated in addition to the $1 million in cash and transportation support FedEx Corp. committed to deliver in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Polish Community Welcomes Game-Changing Delivery from FedEx

Sep 1, 2017

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, enters its third season as Main Sponsor of the UEFA Europa League with a second game-changing delivery already under its belt.

Since becoming main sponsor of the competition in 2016, FedEx has collaborated with the UEFA Foundation for Children and global not-for-profit streetfootballworld on a program of community projects using football as a platform for social change.

Following a successful initiative in Madrid, FedEx funded a second “Field in a Box™” – an artificial turf football pitch delivered in two shipping containers to the town of Mrągowo, north-east Poland. The local community took ownership of the pitch at an opening ceremony on 31 August 2017.
