Interns Take Action to Make Memphis a Better Place

More than 200 interns from FedEx, AutoZone and First Tennessee contributed more than 500 hours of community service in one day to preserve and protect vital community assets in Memphis.

Through the 901 Interns in Action event, three of the biggest companies in the city provided manpower to support a host of local non-profit organizations, including Shelby Farms Park Conservancy, Agricenter International and the Wolf River Conservancy.

The interns gathered bright and early at the Agricenter for a meet and greet and brief series of opening remarks. After hearing from a host of leaders representing each organization, the volunteers split up into groups and headed to various locations around Shelby Farms.

FedEx Team Member’s Daughter Meets Bryce Harper and Appears on ESPN

Ed King, a worldwide sales account manager with FedEx, remembers the day his 16-year-old daughter was admitted to the children’s hospital for a kidney transplant.

“The nurses in the heart and kidney unit couldn’t believe they didn’t know her,” Ed said. “Usually someone with her condition is in and out of the hospital, but she never was. She was a miracle baby.”

Kaylan King was born with only one functioning kidney. Doctors noticed that her left kidney had shifted to the right side and developed multiple cysts. To make matters worse, they had trouble locating Kaylan’s other kidney, which was hidden behind the cysts. She was rushed to the children’s hospital in downtown Washington, D.C. for more tests.

Aspiring Entrepreneurs from Singapore Shine at the 10th FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge Asia Pacific Finals

HONG KONG, August 11, 2016 – A team of student entrepreneurs from Singapore have been crowned winners of the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC) Asia Pacific Finals in Hong Kong. Challenged to come up with an idea for a travel security product or service for the U.K., team Kung Fu Pandas – made up of Colin Chee and Tan Jie Ying – impressed the judges with their product “RobStop”, a convertible bag with slash-proof body panels made of stainless steel mesh that can help to thwart pickpockets and protect all important personal belongings while travelling.

In total, 48 students from eight Asia-Pacific markets (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) took part in this year’s contest.
