Five Ways FedEx Supports Global Entrepreneurship
One week in November is designated every year as Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), designed to inspire people everywhere to explore their possibilities as potential entrepreneurs. FedEx would like to recognize this year’s GEW (November 14th – 20th) by bringing awareness to just a few of the ways we are supporting the development and growth of small businesses. Here are five ways we’re helping current and future entrepreneurs:
• Vital Voices GROW Fellowship
Vital Voices invests in women leaders who advance economic opportunity around the world. FedEx is investing philanthropic support for the VV GROW Fellowship, a one-year accelerator supporting 65 women-owned businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. The program provides business skills training, technical assistance, leadership development and access to networks ultimately leading to business growth, inclusive economic growth and wider social benefits.

• Small Business Grant Contest
Each year, FedEx awards small business grants to entrepreneurs all over the country who have a deep passion for their businesses. Winners become part of a community of entrepreneurs that gain and share insights from peers, and enjoy great exposure for their business.

• Accion – Dialogue on Business (DOB) Program
Accion is a global nonprofit dedicated to building a financially inclusive world with economic opportunity for all, by giving people the financial tools they need to improve their lives. FedEx is helping Accion develop a digital version of its award-winning Dialogue on Business (DOB) training program, which will focus particularly on women entrepreneurs and will be rolled out initially in Colombia.

• Junior Achievement Worldwide
For nearly 10 years FedEx has sponsored Junior Achievement Company of the Year (COY) competitions in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas and the US. Hundreds of students learn first-hand about starting and running a business – profit and loss, human resources, marketing, etc. During the COY events they compete for the FedEx Access Award, presented to the student company that best demonstrates the principals of Access - whether the business is driven by innovation, connecting to new markets, fueling community development and focusing on sustainability and social responsibility.
